1) I believe the habit of smoking come from ourselves. I don't agree if we put other people as the only reason why we smoking. However, I also don't agree that the habit is not related to whom we befriend; meaning to says we are affected by peers too. Both are connected each others. First, why we put blaming on others on what we are doing now, we also should not leave to whom we befriend because friends play very important role to boost ourselves to be good or otherwise.
2) We are exposed by many channels that the habit is not a healthy lifestyle. It is totally out of the way to create awareness about healthy living. Do we know how many chemicals hidden in a stick of cigarette? I believe we acknowledged the fact that over 4,000 chemicals are inside. According to The Cancer Research, United Kingdom, they released the chemicals are including:
= many chemicals known to cause cancer
= hundreds of other poisons
= nicotine, a highly addictive drug, and many addictives designed to make cigarettes taste nicer and keep smokers hooked.

Here are the substances in tobacco as the following:
+ Tar - a mixture of dangerous chemicals
+ Arsenic - used in wood preservatives
+ Benzene - an industrial solvent, refined from crude oil
+ Cadmium - used in batteries
+ Formaldehyde - used in mortuaries and paint manufacturing
+ Polonium -210 - a highly radioactive element
+ Chromium - used in manufacture dye, paints and alloys
+ 1.3 Butadiene - used in rubber manufacturing
+ Polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons- a group of dangerous DNA-damaging chemicals
+ Nitrosamines - a group of carcinogens only found in tobacco
+ Tobacco-specific nitrosamines- a group of carcinogens only found in tobacco
+ Acrolein - used as a chemical weapon in World War 1
+ Acetaldehyde - used in the industrial production of acid.
+ Nicotine - highly addictive
+ Hydrogen cyanide - found as an industrial pesticides
+ Carbon monoxide - found in car exhausts and used in chemicals manufacturing
+ Nitrogen oxides - a major component of smog
+ Ammonia - used to make fertilisers and explosi.
+ alcohol and many more.

All those chemicals are not good for a healthy body. Then, why we still smoke? Don't we afraid to dead? All these questions are not useful until we will have fallen sick one day. Scientifically, the habit is proven unhealthy when we see the chemicals inside. Then, what more we want?
3) What about the religion point of views; how significantly the habit related to it? Islam is the best granted religion to the knowledgeable mankind, the habit to put ourselves into disaster is claimed "haram". Let we check what The National Council of Fatwa ( Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan, Malaysia) said about it. "The 37th of-Muzakarah Jawatankuasa Fatwa Majlis Kebangsaan" for Islamic Religion held on 23rd of March 1995- have discussed about the stand of smoking to Muslims. The result of the conference brought to "haram". This spread into three resons:
I) The smoking habit is harmful to the human bodies.
ii) The smoking habit will harm (spead diseases) the people around smokers.
iii) The smoking habit will bring the smokers to the habit of wasting money.
ii) The smoking habit will harm (spead diseases) the people around smokers.
iii) The smoking habit will bring the smokers to the habit of wasting money.
Hence, We are objected to do that. Is it clear? In part of Islam, we have known. The other religions also put the same judgement to the habit as I mentioned above. They also denied the habit is good.
Exactly! Choice is ours |
4) Scientifically and from the religion's views; both have stated that the habit must not be together with the knowledgeable mankind. Unfortunately, we objected the recommendations and keep on smoking with no guilty. Then, what is the best way to overcome the habit? Many asked me what I did after about 10 years I smoking and now I'm successfully free from the habit. My humble answer spead to several reasons. The reasons are as the following points:
5) We have to set ourselves what reason we should quit smoking. Set deep into our hearts so that we clear our goal is at the front. Pointing this question to our minds; are we going to see our children grow healthy and at the same time obey our orders as parents? What answers should come out from your mind? I'm totally confident that we as parents must want to see they obey us and grow healthy. Let we imagine, if we desire to have children as mentioned, did we prepare for that? How about the substances inside a stick of cigarette? How about the liquors meant to Islam? We are taught that alcohol / liquor is "haram" and we will never touch it. Then, now the substance is inside! When we have sex, our sperms contained "haram" substance and the substance transfered to our pre-child in the ovary. What would be for our child if the base or the platform to exist the new generation is from "haram" substances? We know the meaning of "haram" when the substance transfered to our bodies, it would be our "blood and meat". If we bear to see the next generation and the generation is from our flesh and blood who have rude / disrespectful attitude and refuse to obey The Almighty Allah, to The Messager and to us as parents; then proceed. I myself realized that the ambition to have children who respect and obey us as parents must start from ourselves. There's no others who able to do so.
Think first of our heirs before smoking |
6) The next is; if we wish to be a good man and Allah wills, to be a pious man. We must know that demons like smokes. We smoking we produced smokes, the smokes are the demons' food. Then, what they supposed to do when they stayed close to us. Moreover, we feed them the smokes, like - we are their guardian. Think about that! If we want our children have good attitudes, we must have it first. We don't day dream to have a brilliant children if we - ourselves never instilled the spirit of reading at home- as clear analogy.
Yes!! Quit smoking: Life is beautiful |
7) The other things must be about our heirs. I quitted smoking aftet I realize that I have to do so. This is because I have been granted a daughter. I'm not willing to smoke in front of her, I also not willing to give diseases to her. She is mine who I should take care. If I'm not able to protect herself at this stage, how can I protect her from any other dangers. When I see my daughter's face, I don't have spirit to keep on smoking because her life / future is on my shoulders. How can I take good care of herself if I fall sick with cancer or maybe I die earlier before I see she succeed. I thought I must act now after about 10 years I smoked.
8) In life, we have to choose what ways we supposed to take. The ways we took determine who we are. The choices are in our own hands. Nobody will have access to control ourselves but we have. Think before it's late. Remember, the choice is ours!
